If the blaukraut ( like we call Rotkohl in the Allgäu) is too Sweet for you, try cooking it with more lemon juice. It can be cooked with apple juice as well, that’s where the sweetness comes from.

Rotkohl... depends much how it gets prepared: With red wine and berries... love it! In Estonia they make garlic-red cabbage salad from it (which tasts like ...garlic ...only). Schwarzbrot: Try with lots (!) of cream cheese! Lakritz: The "adult" sorts... well, sometimes we like things which we did not like in the past - our taste changes. I hated olives - now I love them. Went to "Hofbräuhaus", ordered a yeast dumpling with vanilla sauce... and the super friendly Turkish-German waiter in Bavarian trousers excused ("they're out") and brought me bread with "Obadzda". Totally different - and pretty far from a sweet dessert experience. I was hungry, so - well... Few weeks later I laid on my sofa, far away from Munich again.... and suddendly I felt GIANT appetite for Obadzda cheese!!! Could not live without it anymore... So, I think we either get used to and learn new tasts ("open your mind" and such) - or biochemistry might do its work and our body craves something due to pregnancy or cosmic radiation (just guessing).

Schwarzbrot hat schon einen ziemlich intensiven/herzhaften Geschmack. Was besser schmeckt: 1 Scheibe Schwarzbrot, Butter drauf, 1 Scheibe Käse und dann ein halbes Brötchen und zusammenklappen. Mochte ich besonders als Kind lieber. Bin auch kein Nutella/Nougat Fan. Rotkohl, joah, nicht wirklich. Man kann es essen, aber ich esse es viell 1x im Jahr, in der Weihnachtszeit. Tatsächlich mit Klößen und Fleisch. (Wild) Currywurst? Auch kein Fan von.

Raddishes is common food we eat in Mexico which we usually eat with tacos. It's not great tasting but we eat it for the health aspects as it has many antioxidants and nutrients and is one of the few vegetables that we eat.

What you need to do with it is to put Nutella with Marshmello Fluff with graham cracker and you have a Smore-wich. However licorice unflavored black licorice is gross.

I think you should try to find people who actually love these things and make a video with them, where they introduce you to the food as they know it and talk about why they love it. A lot of times I've disliked stuff others liked, but when I tried the one other people loved, I realised that I just never had any good one before. Usually there's multiple variations of a dish and when you dislike one, you might like another. Even simple things like a potato salad can come in millions of variations. Some add sugar, in other areas you never ever add sugar to any type of salad ever. (that's where you will find me xD )

In some things I can totally understand you like radish or licorice. But Nutella and red cabbage I like. One thing I really dislike is horseradish but with my sushi I do like wasabi. Isn’t that weird?

I love Rotkohl. I did not know that someone might not like it. I love Currywurst. I love Schwarzbrot. I don't care for Tatar (Schabefleisch), but I love all other German foods. I love Weißer Spargel (white asparagus), but I cannot stomach American asparagus. The first time that I tried Braunschweiger Leberwurst (liverwurst), I did not like it. The second time I tried it, I loved it.

Ahhhhh ROTKOHL... Rotkohl, or to make it more picturesque call it "Blaukraut", is so much more than "warm Rotkohl". You cannot, MUST NOT, for the love of god DON'T SIMPLY OPEN A Bonduelle-GLASS AND HEAT IT. That's downright barbaric! Real Rotkohl, I mean THE Rotkohl, the one from the Christmas diner and the one that goes with the Martinsgans, THAT Rotkohl is hard to come by these days. Making THE Rotkohl is an artform only sage grandmothers have mastered. Any grandmothers out there?! I'm desperatly in need of one.

Dana you should try out a food called “Flecke“ which is eaten by some people in the eastern part of Germany. It's a sour tasting soup which is made out of stomach and kidneys and other things. It's the most weird food I have ever tasted. 😂

Der Rotkohl sah richtig trocken aus. Kam wohl aus dem Glas und das schmeckt nicht so gut, mag ich auch nicht gern. Es gibt von Igol tiefgefrorenen Rotkohl mit Äpfeln angemacht, der schmeckt wesentlich besser. Das Schwarzbrot kann man wunderbar zerbröseln und mit Frischkäse mischen. Daraus formt man dann kleine Bällchen als Party-Snack. Generell ist es glaube ich ein Fehler in dem Video die einzelnen Sachen für sich zu essen. Trockenes Brot wird immer irgendwie doof schmecken. Lakritz ist nicht gleich Lakritz. Ich mag auch nur die milden Versionen wie Lakritzschnecken zum Beispiel.

🤔 What kind of hazelnut creme is it? Is it pumpernickel or Schwarzbrot? The radish is good in thin slices on a breed with a thin layer of butter and a sprinkle of salt.

Es ist bei solchen Verkostungen immer das selbe: Rotkohl alleine ohne z.B. Gulasch mit Kartoffeln und Soße. Esst Ihr denn auch Petersilie so ohne alles? Und, s. trekki Hier in Berlin schmeckt die Curry auch überall anders, was vor Allem an der Soße liegt, aber auch die Wurst ist sehr wichtig, ob sie z.B. ohne oder mit Darm ist. Ich mag dazu scharfe Zwiebeln sehr gern.

What kind of Schwarzbrot is this? looks more like something like Pumpernickel to me.. You should try fresh, warm, Austrian Bauernbrot (type of Schwarzbrot) with butter and Schnittlauch (I don't know the english term for this) :D

Schwarzbrot essen hier eigentlich nur die Ökos. Ich hasse das Zeug. So etwas würde ich genauso wenig freiwillig essen wie Lakritze. Und von Rotkohl (Blaukraut) bin ich auch kein großer Fan. Und auch Radieschen kann ich wenig abgewinnen. Aber wie um alles in der Welt kann man eine Nuss-Nougat-Creme nicht mögen? Die ist doch superlecker! Mir ist übrigens ne herzhafte Bratwurst mit Senf auch lieber als ne Currywurst, wo die Bockwurst ohne Sauce praktisch nach nichts schmeckt. Bezüglich Fast-Food ist meine Devise aber eher "in dubio pro Döner"

I love Rot Kohl, and on taste alone I could eat it by the gallon. However, my system will not tolerate it, and I refuse to subject myself to that much gastrointestinal distress. The hazelnut cream (I'm assuming that's Nutella) is another thing for which I love the taste, but I get the worst gastro problems from it, too.

I don't care for Sauerkraut, but I've become quite a fan of Rotkohl. Licorice can just kiss my rosy behind. Shaved Rettich has become a favorite. And how could you not like Currywurst? A staple....

I get why someone might dislike nutella, but I really think it is different and much more chocolate than a typical haselnut or "Nougat"-creme, which is the filling of the sweets she ate there.

I like Rotkohl, but it also strongly depends on the recipe, e.g. I like the Rohkohl of my mom very much, but I really dislike the one of my grandmother and the one I ate last week in a restaurant was somewhere in between. Btw my mother and grandmother are both really great cooks, so the issue isn't there. I really like the solid ("al dente") one instead of the very soft one, also especially the softer ones tend to be more sweet which I also dislike and as Stefan said you've got the sweet one. I think (if not fresh) the frozen one is much more sweet than the inlaid in a glass is.

We make red cabbage with onions apples and caraway seeds. We start with onions add the add cabbage stir fry it till soft add sliced apples salt pepper and a few caraway seeds. Some people put vinegar on table to put small amount on cabbage dish.

I am with you on the hazelnut spread. I like hazelnut in its nut form but if it's made into a cream or spread....no. I hate Nutella. I also do not like curry so I don't think I'd like the currywurst, but I've never actually tried it. I do enjoy the rest of the items on your list.

Red cabbage is Amazing... as a side to some specific foods... here in Denmark we usually eat it with pork roast ( flæskesteg) or even fried mestballs ( frikadeller) - it is NOT supposed to be eaten in its own... - I usually make it in a pot with ‘Ribs’ jelly, or a black currant ‘saft’ The hazelnut cream is to me a variant on Nutella - I feel Nutella is waaay to sweet, so I prefer the nutcream... Swartzbrot is to me kinda boring - Im more in to rye bread with waaaay more seeds in it... but with the nut cream on top- yuuuuum... The last two - I’m totally with you on those... I’m kinda sad that you chose to eat some of the things on their own - the ones mentions above are all meant to be eaten with something else... there are a LOT of foods that are kinda bland or unappetizing on their own, but are amazing combined with the right things..

1. Warm red cabbage - I dislike it, I prefer eating it cold 2. Hazelnutspread/Nutella - I don't like every hazelnut spread but I ❤ Nutella 3. Schwarzbrot - can't remember having eaten one 4. Lakritze - ew ew just gross, disgusting 5. Radish - yeah I like eating just the radish 6. Currywurst - can't really tell, I don't remember the flavor

I am not a big fan of pears or asparagus, and I totally HATE brussel sprouts, marzipan and coffee! Cooked red cabbage is one of my favorites, especially with knödel. And I am a big fan of (salty) licorice, but I come from northern Germany where it's supposed to be more popular. :)

Red cabbage is not for salads (just like kale you crazy Americans). Put some apples into the cabbage! Too bad you don’t love Nutella... but have to agree on the rye bread. Give salty licorice a go again 😊

Not sure how someone does not like hazelnut spread, my wife can spoon that stuff. I like it on English Muffins or toast for breakfast. Just had Rotkohl for dinner today with BBQ spareribs, and homemade Klöße. The black bread or Pumpernickel I don’t eat alone, but with some nice Schinken, and German Pickels or Onion it is great. As for Lakritz, Harribo Schnecken is my favorite, did not get any this time as my wife ate both bags we took home from Munich. Radish are ok, I guess, really wanted some white radish dishes while visiting just did not see any on the menus. Did get to try Bretzel und Obatzda, while there, the wife said it was nasty, but I liked it. If near Frankfurt you need to try handkäse mit music.

No wonder you didn´t get hazelnut paste in the US. All US hazelnuts are shipped to Europe, no kidding. French and Italian cuisine made it a thing. Schwarzbrot kannst du toasten UND Haselnußcreme drauftun. Yum. Try Pumpernickel toasted and with peanut butter AND Hazelnut smudge.
