Hey @MaCenna - tip to get the hallway linen closet drawers to slide easier. Use WAX to coat the bottom of the drawer and on the inside of the cabinet box (where the bottom surface of the drawer touches the inside cabinet.) Let it dry for a couple of days. They will slide in and out so much easier.

regarding the bedskirt, just fold it over as needed in the middle, and then use long safety pins to put it together, to keep the size you want. That way, you don’t have to mess with it every time you’re making the bed, and, if your mattress is the flippable kind, then you don’t have to worry about messing with the skirt later on a when you rotate and/or flip the mattress.

They also make wrap around bed skirts which are elastic and just wrap around the frame so it won’t move when the mattress naturally shifts. They also make clamp mattresses holders as well to hold it in place no pad needed.

MaCenna, the way you love your Momma, how thoughtful you are of her, is really beautiful. I love your whole approach to design and decorating. I love a home full of treasures and character and personality. Maybe because this is the way my mother decorated our home and it’s how I now approach my home as well. Choosing items for it because I love them and then finding ways to use them, moving them around as the need or inspiration comes. I appreciate the interiors we find in Architectural Digest or McGee and Co. or some such, but sometimes it makes me feel weirdly anxious or overwhelmed. It’s all so matchy matchy or over designed or something. It feels like a catalogue or an impersonally staged space rather than a home. Your spaces feel like home. A warm, inviting, personality filled, beautiful, welcoming home. ❤

Oh, the guest bed and bath are so cozy! A tip for the bed skirt, make a pleat down the center to pick up any side excess, then pin it using T-pins. Works every time.

Other than a headboard plus possibly a footboard, I feel the room is great as is right now. She accomplished it without spending a lot of money, which was one of her goals. After they have lived in the house for a while she’ll know more what she wants in the long run. If I recall, that room will also serve other functions besides being only a guest room so that will also come into play in how she decorates. I’m sure her mother is very happy to sleep in that room and would not feel the need to redecorate the room. It is MaCenna’s house and she and her mom each have their own aesthetic.

Regarding shower curtain liners, for anyone that doesn’t know this, they are more expensive, but it’s always best to get anti-mildew/anti-mold ones. SO much better for cleaning purposes, and they last a LOT longer too.
