Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

I really love how ready to accept everyone's dreams and struggles Mirabel is, not just Isabelas and Luisas, but also Brunos and little Antonios, even her abuelas, once she is let in and trusted with their stories. She has her misconceptions, she is jealous and puts them on a pedestal, but at the same time, she's so ready to tear down the walls and help her family members strive for happiness. In this one, the way she sees and understands Isabela is turned upside down, but she's immediately ready to roll with it. I find that so sweet and it really shows that she doesn't just care for the Madrigals gift, their reputation or the service they provide the community with, she really cares for each individual member of her family.

Love how when Mirabel and Isabella sing “How far can I rise? Through the roof, to the skies, let’s go!” Isabella sings a harmony line whilst Mirabel sings the melody. It’s as if Isabella was finally shedding her “I am THE main character and no one else is” vibes, which I really love.

The rhythm is so catchy and the lyrics of the song is really deep without mention the visuals in this video. It’s one of the best moments of the movie.

This movie really did nail the sibling relationship.

I love how their relationship isnt just magically fixed cause Isa admitted she was behaving for the family. Mirabel isnt really LISTENING at first, still focused on fixing the magic, but as the song goes on, and Isa pulls her up, including her in her struggle, Mirabel's focuses shifts naturally to helping Isa and THAT heals the magic. It's so subtlety done, I love iiiiiiiit

Isabela has coerced into the role of being the perfect child, as she is the first and oldest grandchild. Her gift is growing plants not flowers, but she has always grown flowers because it’s pretty and perfect, symbolizing her. When she finally lets loose she grow anything to her will. Isabela was legit going to marry a man she didn’t love for her family, which shows how much she is committed to her role as the perfect child.

I love the contrast in this song and her part “we don’t talk about Bruno” because her part in that song is very beautiful but simple, just like how everyone sees her and even in the beginning of this song but as it goes on you hear more emotion and dynamic in her singing and combined with the music it’s not simple and it’s not perfect but it’s beautiful in a way that’s completely different from the rest of the movie. You can hear her letting go of her perfect imagine and just letting herself come through. It’s an incredible song.

I love how similar yet contrasting Luisa's and Isabella's songs are. Luisa was overexposed and Isabella was locked up. Everyone utilized Luisa's strength until she burned out, while Isabella was expected to stay in her pretty little mold that she never explored beyond her own powers. Both are very valid issues, and I love how they were able to show it in this movie.

It's so cool how Mirabel stops forcing it and starts understanding her sister in the middle of the song. So she pushes Isabela to grow higher, and finally gets a true hug.

Seeing Isabela’s room, I think everyone deserves a House/Room Tour inside the Casita. ❤️

I love how throughout the movie, Isabela usually uses her power specifically for moving only herself on the vines (slowly and beautifully via swings or vine drops) making herself the center of her power use (the flowers literally spiral out from her during her opening twirl). After Mirabel acknowledges that she loves the entirety of Isabelas gift and supports her on top of the tree, Isabel starts sharing that spotlight with her sister. Instead of having to struggle through the room like the first part of the song, Isa starts paying notice to what Mirabel needs to have fun with her. She lets Mirabel mess around with the dye flowers to create new effects and literally makes Mirabel her own vine to get down to the window. Isabela never shared her gift with anyone that directly except maybe her dad (the flower on Augustins jacket was made by her theoretically). But she is literally pulling Mirabel into the limelight with her.

I audibly gasped the first time I saw Isabela’s room, everything about her character and what she represents is so aesthetically pleasing 🧘🏾‍♀️

I love how in practically every musical number Mirabel either looks terrified or reasonably confused as to why this person is singing all of a sudden. Very realistic
