It was sad watching their faces and them thinking of the days they were on stage singing this song. How the years go buy and you wish you could take them with you. There will never be great musicians like this again. This was a great audition of this song. Just jaw dropping performance.
I always wonder if when a band makes a song like this they have even the slightest idea the impact it was going to make on music history. How impactful the song has been on people and will span generations, That 50 years later this song would be played to honor you and move you to tears. Music is absolutely beautiful.
This has it all. Wilson sisters absolutely slaying it (Nancy being on the shortlist of most under-appreciated guitarists ever). Plant clearly holding back tears. The house band guitarist nailing the solo with Page watching on appreciatively (no pressure). Yo Yo Ma having a spiritual experience in the audience. The bowlers on the choir. Jason Bonham in full-on “this one’s for you, dad” mode. I lost track ages ago how many times I’ve watched it. Moves me to tears every. Single. Time.
@Amy ya no kidding you know what's awesome some of the younger generation acculy perfer the music we listen to and grew up with in are generation and don't like the music today they have great ears are music we grew up with is second to none today's music my opinion tc
Awesome your right Nancy underrated guitarists ever seen many of her playing and it just puts me in awe every time I see it like crazy on you what an guitar opening sec to none almost and hart what a band this was so awesome 👌
"This has it all." I don't think so. It's sad, it's so sad to look and realize you need an army of singers and musicians to reach the same grade of music power as the four of them had some 40 years earlier
@smoke14 NO one can play it like Page, that is why. I thought the guy did a great job. But Jimmy Page playing that solo is like a religious experience live. The man just had a groove and a feel no one has ever come close to.
Imagine having the honor of playing this song for the guys who made it? Wow. Just. Wow. Then imagine being the guys who made it and all these decades later being honored with this performance.
I'm sixty years old now, I've heard "Stairway To Heaven" covered by many, many bands. I thought none could ever capture the essence of the song or the band, but I was wrong. Hearing Heart perform this, watching Jason play, Robert's tears, and watching Jimmy and John react to this? I'm shedding a few tears myself. This is absolute magic.
There have been so many covers of this song over my lifetime. But none have created the level of emotional response for me as Heart covering it. Ann and Nancy have always been under appreciated. Truly one of the best bands ever in my opinion paying tribute to one of the best songs ever written by one of the best bands ever.
Can you imagine, Jason Bonham covering one of the most iconic songs of his dad’s career and being watched by his dad’s former bandmates. How much emotion must have been running through his veins.
This is the best, most beautiful Led Zep tribute single song performance I have ever seen. Heart is my all-time favorite girl rocker fronted band. They have been playing Led Zeppelin songs for years at their shows. It is so perfectly fitting that Heart played Stairway to Heaven for this performance. I don't think there is anyone who can sing this song better than Ann Wilson, other than Robert Plant himself of course. And Nancy Wilson's acoustic guitar performance is outstanding like always.
Their "Rock And Roll" on Greatest Hits/Live should have told everyone that they were qualified. Led Zeppelin's reaction is the Certificate of Authenticity!
OMG, one of the greatest tributes I've ever seen. Plant should've let it go...you could see how emotional it was in his face. Freaking love Heart and Zep. This generation will never know, man.
Vou continuar assistindo sempre e sempre. O melhor tributo que já assisti.
Who ever put this together was a genius. There are so many intricacies in this composition that just seem perfect, that you never lose focus through the whole song. Even the video cut is great at delivering the emotions of the people present.
I still love the look on Robert Plant's face when he realizes Jason was there you can tell he loves him and loves his dad that was the look of pure joy
I’m sitting here in tears. It’s not my first time with this cover. Yes, there’s nothing like the original. But this is pretty bloody fantastic. God I love the power of music.
The moment of Robert trying not to burst into tears is what every person needs of that age when they reminisce their past achievements knowing full well what they have created will be appreciated forever.
Goosebumps every time. This is quite simply the greatest sing ever written, and this performance is simply outstanding. What watching this group appreciate the significance of their creation and the superb rendition of it before them.
@Arlene Cov Shayne Fontayne's real name is actually Michael Barakan. Michael's brother is Peter Barakan a former English radio personality and music critic in Japan, now hosting a show in Japan called Begin Japanology that showcases cultural things all over Japan. Michael was once married to Mackenzie Phillips.
What a magnificent tribute! Their look of satisfaction and emotion at the recognition is priceless! There's nothing more honorable and rewarding for a musician, a beautiful interpretation you could feel in your soul !!!
Best. Video. Ever! I've seen it SO many times, and it still gets me in the feels every time. Ann Wilson's voice, Robert Plant's teary eyes, Jason Bonham wearing his father John's bowler hat and looking up to the heavens, Jimmy Page's expression when the big choir comes out wearing bowler hats, the whole thing just gets you in the feels. If it doesn't, have your heart checked. Best. Video. Ever.
I thought the background singers were the best of it all. I really like how Robert Plant 's facial expressions showed how much the song means to him .🌹💖
Heart completely knocked it out of the park with that performance. Jimmy and John couldn't stop smiling and Robert held back tears, probably thinking about Bonzo while watching his son kill it on the drums. LOVE THIS VIDEO and LOVE LED ZEPPELIN ❤️
@Michael Corcoran Yeah they were a big deal for a minute when I was a kid. I think they got a raw deal because they expected him to be his dad and them to be like LZ, but they had their own style..Wait for you is still one of my favorite songs ever. I'm glad to see he's still around.
Yeah, I've watched this more than a few times and it's still kick ass... Heart kills it.. The choir kills it.. Look at Jimmy's face when he noticed the full choir. Excellent!
goosebumps every time. some one said its like a religious experience, couldn't agree more. no clue how many times I have watched and it never gets old.
This is absolutely hands down the best cover I've ever heard ...she hits every note perfectly and the musicians play every note and rhythm perfectly wow I could listen to this a million times in a row and still get chills every time
A pure masterpiece if there were not the original, but then again? Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, are so smitten with humility and honor, one great moment in music history! The Heart Sisters and the entire chorus and ensemble is incredible sounding!
I don't think there are enough words to describe just how beautiful this whole performance is. Also, I don't think there's any other way to properly pay homage to one of the greatest rock anthems and those who wrote it...
Her voice. The hats on the choir. Plant's visible pain remembering Bonham, Jason looking up to his dad...gets me everytime. Every. Time. Chills and tears.
This is the first time that this song has made me cry. I LOVE THIS! Ann Wilson along with the band and choir did an outstanding performance on stage. Ann's voice always moves me. I'm a 1977 baby and am so glad that I experienced this music as a kid and still listening to.
i Dont know how often i listen know to this version from this beautiful song, but i never can t get enough - now i realize why. I love the reactions from the original band, you can see, no you can feel how emotionally touched they are from this "interpretation" of their song.
Ann and Nancy from Heart along with Jason and rest of the band that performed ' Stairway to heaven absolutely nailed it. Led Zeppelin were blown away by there performance. 10/10 from me
They were good !! But i think “nailed it” is a bit generous… they obviously shortened the song. And the guitarist was pretty good. But there are dozens that are better. So “nailed it” i assume would be a comment from a nin-musician…. They did good. But i have SEEN heart many times. And have seen them play WAY better.
Ann and Nancy are such fkn legends. So happy I got to see them like three times in Sacramento in the 2010s. Band was still tight af. Sounded just like the record
