The horse is not a TB- he got rather strong on the latter part of the course. A lesser rider would have been run away with. she kept the precision to negotiate those narrow jumps. When a horse is tired you lose the power steering. Don't be so critical of the rider. Have you ever ridden a horse at the gallop for four miles??? Even without all those humongous jumps?

Fuck the sport at this point honestly. That course is brutality. Even pushed a master like Ingrid Klimke into some really ugly spots.

Mimi the best Das willst du Ingrid Klimke erzählen?! Guck mal hin, was für einen Vorwärtsdrang Hale Bob hat, sie muss da etwas ans Gebiss, damit er nicht komplett besinnungslos durch sprintet

This was hard to watch. Her reigns were too tight and the course was almost perfectly created for injury. Who designed this crap?

Why does it look like she's constantly dropping her reins and not ready to jump?
Rachael Glaeser
Rachael Glaeser Vor 4 Monate
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that she was letting the horse gallop on the forehand during the gallops between the jumps to save energy and then she had to get his head up again before the jumps.

It's called grease... It's something you can apply to the chest, belly and legs to that if a horse gets too close to the jump or lands on it, they slide off easily instead of getting stuck
Jasmine Fordham
Jasmine Fordham Vor 5 Monate
its a form of soap or grease so the horses legs can slide over the jump if need be...

for me, she is one of the best riders in the world. but still i found her hands pretty harsh during this ride. but i think that's not because of the rider's technique, but because of this sick cross country course. it is simply not possible to ride this course successfully without pulling the reins so bad.
cathy parvin
cathy parvin Vor 3 Monate
A bitless bridle can be just as harsh, if not more so! This lady is probably best rider in the world, in all English disciplines! She is extremely fair and treats her horses very well. Sometimes you need more than ur back, bum and pinky finger. I’d be honoured for her or Toddy even saw my horse, much less rode them

Well, don't think a freaking hackamore is any better. It puts pressure on the nose, and like a bit requires careful hands. I guess that most people critiquing the riders probably have not ever been on a forward, bold, super fit horse too often, if at all. These riders have good hands. Watch their dressage rounds. They may be resorting to harsher methods in the moment. I'd rather they didnt. But let's be fair about judgement. If you've ever ridden a very strong horse that pinpoints on a fence and guns forward, you sometimes have to resort to stronger hands to get any line of communication to your horse to hold up to get a good stirde on the approach. It's either that, or let the horse figure it out, and pray you all don't do something mad like leave a stride out at a huge fence, or ride too long into a tight combination. Some horses just tune the rider out. So, you might see unusually strong half halts that the rider would usually not do unless necessary. Just to say it, I've seen cross country jumps ridden by people using no bridle at all. It's doable.

100% agree. I felt like it blatantly disregarded the safety of the animals participating with the design. Really horrible course.

That horse was still so strong at the end of the course. She has been riding since conception and it shows. Impressive.

Goaticorn Who do you think trained the horse HAHA, that all doesn't start in the start box!
annette fournier
Goaticorn Have you ever ridden a horse so strong that it feels any second it could be out of control and you have to be kinda overt strong with it still trying to be correct and keep good form? Speaking from experience, it's one Hell of a ride on a razors edge. They were both pretty brilliant.

She was kinda sorta trash half the time. The horse, on the other hand, was brilliant.
