It's the damnedest thing. The game. The second you learn the rules, the game falls apart. It's like the game we play with our children. The second you say, "Agh!! Listen, you're the child and I'm the adult! You're the follower and I'm the leader! Just do it!!!" What's the first fuckin' thing the child does? He says, "Oh. No, I don't like that. You put boundaries around me and now I know where those boundaries are." And he tries to break out and be naively independent. The proper way to play the game is to act it out without giving away the rules. And that's so hilariously frustrating, because it flies in the face of our desire to share what we know. You can't play the game with words. It can only be played with actions. Talk talk talk talk talk talk talk, and you only end up giving your hand away. Even now, I just left this nonsense rant and the jig is up.

Hearing Joe say that at one point he thought he was a loser / failure makes me feel better about the situation I am in rn, where I pretty much feel the same. My dad recently died from Covid, he was 40. He was the only parent that cared about the things I was interested in in, we got along really well, and now that he's gone I just feel alone, I am really isolative and super insecure and anxious all the time. I hope I can find something that'll give me confidence and the feeling of self worth. Edit: Did not expect all of the support, thanks a lot guys Edit: I have read most of these comments, and I am genuinely thankful for all of the support you have all given me. I will take all of it to heart, now it's time to fix things that need fixing. Still, wow. Thank you all, really.

I’m so sorry you’re hurting. Maybe this will make you feel better. Be grateful you had that relationship at all. I’m in my 40’s and I have never known my father. I found out through a dna test 2 years ago that my family lives in the same city I do. I met my aunt and cousins, one of my half-brothers, both of my grandparents, but my father, who has had my number for 2 years now, has failed to reach out to me. Be happy you had the time you did with your father.

So sorry for your loss Yug, your Dad was so young when he passed. I hope you have time and space and support to go through your own personal healing journey. Sending you a big hug. I lost my Dad too and I was very close to him. Have faith in yourself you'll navigate and find your own way through it I took my time and I believe grief is a very personal journey. I often see anxiety as being out of the body and in the future worrying about what's to come, that's not uncommon in this world at the moment. You take care of you, accept support and love. Lex, I have had the random pleasure of listening to this particular episode over a dozen times and it picks up wherever I left off the time before. I have to tell you, you allowed Joe to drop all of his guards in the most prolific way. I had him pegged way back in the day when he was a fresh one, but this interview or authentic reintroduction has garnered a more deep and profound appreciation for the both of you. I am very touched by how gentle he was with you, because if he was in his typical brash presence, it would have took away from you and how you naturally flow in your ways. I think you may have inadvertently helped him become a little more approachable. that was an awesome takeaway. Thanks

@Stephen Uhe Well hes an asshole who has completely screwed over many family business' in the tri-state area in the 2000's. I'm speaking from personal experience, family member did a major construction job on one of his buildings and he strategically declared bankruptcy on the company he contracted through, didnt pay a cent to the family business and got an entire manhattan building renovated for free. Lost hundreds of thousands of dollars of material and put a lot of hard working men out of work and struggling. He did this to countless others. Insurance only covered a fraction. But I guess that's not a bad trait to have if youre the president.

@Serenity3000 Well recognised. I totally agree with you. In most of the cases we need reparenting. Our first parents could only or mostly give us what they knew best. Second wave of adult development pushes us to seek new 'parents, guides, mentors' which is a good sign. The side effect is that we need to in a way abandon our previous parents and most of them won't understand it nor accept it. I have noticed that in developmental growth we need to transcend the former 'level' so to speak and both integrate and both, include what's been healthy and functional and exclude what's been limiting harmful and disfunctional in the face of the present realities. It's a tought process but at the same natural organic and very exciting. It's like a familiar transformation of moving from primary to secondary school. Unfortunately currently the 'highest' level of development that is wildly supported by the culture ends around college / University... After that we deemed to be ready to 'enter' the society however the growth of the overall society and culture is and never been settled nor static as we can see now it's become extremely volitile and dynamic. Just realised I don't know why I'm leaving this comment. I guess I wanted and needed to verbalise my thoughts. 🙏

@Nonsense I understand what you're saying and agree. However, I will offer this to think about...perhaps this conversation will give someone the fuel they need to get out of a crappy situation. Let's say they shut this off and go climb that mountain and are inspired to do something they thought they never could...all from listening to a conversation. I think, more importantly, and feel free to disagree, these podcasts are what we should listen to. We should shut off social media. I'm not disrespecting your idea, I think you're generally correct. I just wanted to add a little spin. Cheers all.

Something fascinating happened on a forum in a span of a few days and it has caused quite a stir in certain parts of the Internet. A person by the moniker of Insider claimed he was from a ruling bloodline and gave the people a chance to ask everything they wanted and Insider would answer. At first it looks like another internet hoax, some lightweight questions were followed by lightweight answers, but then things started changing drastically. Anyone who understands dialectics knows that the answers Insider gave were designed to force/provoke others to ask questions which went to the core of the matter. First some questions are being asked by Insider like "Are you really living on the planet you think you are?" which made people react differently than before. The answers this person started giving to those following questions showed a deep, broad understanding of philosophy, history, metaphysics, religion, magic, politics, and more in a way which is very innovative, detailed and some answers are thought provoking to say the least. What amazes is that Insider answered these questions in a very short time span and if you keep in mind that the topics are diverse, some in depth and some epic answers showed up literally minutes apart, one must wonder how it was done. Copy/paste from internet? I checked intensively and the sentences Insider used cannot be found on internet. Like one person observed, this was way over the heads of the usual suspects. Some people started getting upset, others were drawn to it and this all lead to a dialogue where so much was revealed, including by the other posters that it can be studied for years to come. Sounds hard to believe? Read on.. 2 Dialogues both really good second one is longer www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087677VFQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_gl_i_HVVHWY1XK3SDJSTEQSNR ..............

If we're talking about lessons learned here, I think I'd just like to throw my opinion out there. This isn't related to the podcast, but almost a year ago my wife was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. Now, the biggest lesson I learned in all that, and trust me, I learned many, was that I needed to maintain my life better. Without having that extra person to clean, to cook, the simple things, and more advanced, those decisions we make because we 'want' something, IE, getting the sports car, or the luxury car, over the simple car, leading to more time spent at a mechanic or repairing your own car when you don't have time, or as a business owner, pushing my life so hard between that and being a caretaker that I would get 2 hours of sleep for months on end which drove me insane. Constantly trying to keep up with everything that needed to be done. Making tough decisions about how id spend my time daily, not having time to even make simple phone calls. My entire life fell apart. Yes, I kept it together financially, I provided, I was a good caretaker, I did my job, but being strapped for time and literally having 0 put into prospective what I should and shouldn't be spending time on. I couldn't even keep my home properly cleaned, and had to constantly outsource whenever I could. I compromised my business, had so many liabilities, and the reasons were so insignificant. I was essentially trying to get time back wherever I could, and dumping all liabilities. I had to think about where I needed to simplify, where I needed to give up on dreams, temporarily or permanently. Where I needed to focus on and enforce stability. I know many people won't EXP what I went through, but these things add up. A little time here, a little time there, and little instability, it can make the difference. Are the liabilities you hold worth the potential devastation in a worse case scenario? Are you managing your day to day well enough? Can you even see the lingering issues? I never understood the desire for time until I had none. Give yourself the time you deserve, manage your life properly, don't let issues linger, don't procrastinate or pick up loads that you don't need to. You may one day regret it.

@E0572 It’s many small steps toward total Collectivism. Also, Marxism has been rebranded multiple times, from Critical Theory, to Maoism, to Leninism, to This-Time-It-Failed-Ism, and That-Time-It-Failed-Ism…. You probably wouldn’t call Sweden’s economics “Marxist”, either, yet taxpayers feel entitled to tell parents what foods they can and cannot feed their children. After all, taxpayers for those children’s healthcare, and childhood obesity is a rapidly growing cost…. See how quickly “good intentions” can result in losing the parental autonomy over your own child, in this case? Collectivist values are detriment and direct threat to Individual Rights.

Fantastic conversation once again Lex, I admire and respect your style so much. Your guests are always so intelligent and intriguing. I would really love to see you converse with more intriguing women …no hate at all, just have thought this with last few of your interviews. Keep up your amazing style of calm, kind, genius dialogue

I love listening to men talk introspectively with each other. That was hijacked and taken from my family when I was a kid. My mom's friend turned into a crazy cultish like leader nutcase. It caused my family to be severely divided and isolated from one another although we all lived under one roof. It's so important to connect and be able to have these discussions with friends and family. To connect. To give space for others to speak even if you don't agree.

@ACR Joe has said on the podcast before that he doesn’t like talking about the Carlos thing. He doesn’t want to speak bad of him so it’s best just to not talk about it.

what about Carlos Mencia though? Why didn’t Mr Friedman talk to Joe and ask him about the whole Carlos Mencia thing?

100% proof of great conversation and dialog. Great interview. It's great to see Joe on the interviewee side of the mic. So cool Joe overcame the cancel culture. 🍻
MrBrothasky Vor 2 Monate
@Troyphy saying that you don't want to bother with someone on your show is not "canceling" them. It's just an acknowledgement that your combined interests don't align. He's gotta make that episode interesting for non-trump voters as well, and singlehandedly do all the labor of keeping Trump on point when the dude gets the least bit uncomfortable. I also wouldn't bother with that hot mess.

What an enjoyable, enlightening, and humanly great waste of two hours (when I should be doing more productive shit but got stuck here). This episode, featuring these two giants of human form and possibility, should be archived and enshrined in the National Register. Hey, authoritarian-wise... make vaccination optional, but watching this mandatory. Two dudes that I both admire tremendously (short of worship, but I'd fight for either), and feel equal to at the same time. I can imagine myself being friends with them, drinking shots and beers in a dive bar, laughing our asses off, and enjoying one another's existence. They are truly authentic beautiful souls who can teach errbody something, by not trying to do just that. They are self-confident and humble, both at the extreme, without an ounce of hubris being detected. I love these dudes Hey Lex, I am 67. You got nuttin' on me youngboy. lol. Ima die young; as late as possible. Mad respect. Let's go!

I absolutely LOVE Lex pushing Joe outside HIS comfort zone by needling him about Joe’s refusal to talk to Trump. Joe is ALWAYS telling people how they need to talk to people they disagree with and be willing to learn. Go Lex. Keep pushing him - and I say that from the perspective that I don’t think it would be a great podcast (Rogan/Trump) as these are two HUGE egos trying to outdo each other - but the fact that Joe is not willing to face his own issues with Trump - well I say Go Lex! 😂
