Since the NVIDIA page was updated AFTER we filmed this. Here is some extra info. First Partner cards are visible on the site so you can see what they look like. Second, the 12GB 4080 is a shaved down version of the 16GB, not just in the amount of ram, but its also 2,000 less CUDA cores... this is similar to the 1060 3GB vs 6GB and its a slimy move... it makes it look like a 4080 but for all intents and purposes it is NOT. Its really more like a 4070.

It's going to be a rough wake up call for Nvidia, scalpers and miners no longer interested in graphics cards. These prices are out of reach for most gamers.

The 4080 is $1199, a $500 increase from the last gen. The $899 card is obviously a rebranded 4070.

The 4090 alone is literally 3 times what my mortgage is. When prices for a SINGLE item in my PC start getting to that price point....I stick with what I have already. And what I have I am more than happy with, especially after the other bombshell news drop Jay hit us with the other day regarding EVGA.

Having just built a new system (5800x 6900xt) I'm not due to upgrade for another 4 or 5 years. That said, these prices are nuts. In a time where AMD is making things more affordable, I lean more toward them every day.

The true 4080 is the 16gb one. The 12 gb one should have been a 4070/ti (it also cuts down on cores). They didn't want to name it that because of the price increase

4080 12G variance seems to be the 4070 looking at the stats of it compared to the 16G one. Feels like NVidia is pulling a fast one again.

Calling the 4070=408012GB is the biggest ripoff I've seen since Apple

Honestly, huge debate internally. Was planning on doing major extreme overhaul next year with custom cooling starting from AM5 and the next gen x90 series, however between the slimy behavior of NVIDIA and the fact that we lost EVGA as a great board partner

Waiting to see what AMD has to offer. Honestly my last Nvidia card was two GTX 280 in SLI ever since then it has been AMD, I am not really a fanboy, just the price to performance was better with AMD in the price range I was shopping at.

I was looking forward to the challenge of keeping an overclocked 4080/4090 cool, after finding my EVGA 3080 overclocks about as well on air at 70c+ as it does sat at 37c due to power limitations. But with other pressures on energy and general living costs I think I will finish up my intended case build in preparation for next gen at this point.

Still gonna wait for the 5000 series. I'm interested to see how well DLSS 3.0 plays out with games but was more intrigued with that mod remastering software they briefly showed. Seemed a bit hard to believe but I'll be keeping my eye on how well that works with games. If that just enables us to throw our old games into it and remaster them with raytracing, improved textures, etc. then not only will I not feel bad about waiting but it'll make the new price points easier to swallow.

4070 rebranded to 4080 12gb to hike the price by 80% compared to current gen.

Tbh since the shortages during 20 gen the prices for all the cards and markups are insane. It will be a while until i swap my GTX1080.

To anyone reading this : DLSS 3.0 features Super Resolution and Reflex WILL be supported by RTX older generations, only the Frame Generation feature is exclusive to 40 Series. Source : Nvidia official reps on several reddit posts and Q&A.

I will wait for the next gen of Radeon and the first independent comparison of them. Maybe next year I'll go and update my system based on price and performance

As someone who hasn't had a Radeon card since the days of ATi I'm going with the "screw you, nVidia" approach. With their antics I feel dirty owning a 3080. I'm planning on building a sim rig in the next year or two and it's going to be AMD-powered.

Thank Jay for taking the time to get this info down to the everyday person. I need a major over all upgrade. I'm still run a GTX 1060 6Gb and yes it is still kicking ass. When I do upgrade it'll be more then likely to a 30 series. Looking at a 3090 Ti.

I think everyone is once again rooting for AMD to perform and give NVIDA a wake up call like they did to intel with the Ryzen launch
