@Black Parade Gears 5 wasn't great. It's been shown on Crowbcat's video on the massive amount of censorship the game has. People do care about feminism in games. Halo and Battlefield is dead due to feminism. Same with Gears 5 since nobody plays that game anymore. Gears 5 has microtransactions. A female staff by EA stated "Loot boxes are similar to opening a kinder egg". This is just one of the proof that women in the video gaming industry just want money. Ubisoft has a ton of online-only DRM's in their game and their staff is mostly women. Most rushed games like 2042 are made by women. Men make the best video games like Brothers in Arms series, Medal of Honor, World at War, Gears of War 1 and 2, Halo Reach. Feminism has affected not only gaming but the film industry like the recent She-Hulk.

Thank you for making the distinction between the developers and the publishers, so many people love to blame the devs who pull 16 hour days and miss their child’s first words or first steps to get these products to us and even then when it’s not enough they do the same thing for another few months to get it fixed and finished. Cyberpunk is in my top 3 games ever and I still see the dev team getting so much hate online for how the release happened, but it’s all on the shoulders of investors and executives. Remember guys, we speak with our wallets not our words.

I know that concept may be a bit foreign to you, but even people in prison have family and/or friends. Who tf do you expect to become a dev if they're not allowed to have a personal life outside of work? You know, how the majority of jobs function, by letting people actually sleep and spend time with friends and family? I mean, that's how ALL jobs should work. People need to sleep, eat, and socialize. Without those things, people die or get depressed and game end themselves. Idk if you have a job but if you do, imagine spending 16 hours there every day for months to years without a single day off, how well do you think you'd be doing after that? Devs are human beings and human beings are living creatures with needs that if ignored can be devastating for mental and physical health, if not outright deadly. Until we have robots doing dev work on video games, devs shouldn't be treated like robots. I doubt every dev job will ever be done exclusively by robots though because you need _some_ human input. Treating human beings like human beings should be the norm in the video game industry as all others, not the exception.

The investors actually weren’t even the ones to blame for Cyberpunk coming out as awful and chopped up as it still is. The investors asked CDPR if they’d be done in time and CDPR’s upper management said they would, despite even the devs themselves saying it wouldn’t. Hence why some investors actually ended up suing CDPR for how Cyberpunk came out. Usually we can blame the investors, but CDPR’s upper management was so awful that it was entirely their fault

I really like how much of a case study NakeyJakey could be if you thought about it. DE-vid is absolutely littered with content creators that dedicate themselves to rehashing their literal personalities almost every single day, and it eventually wears their content, their audiences, and their personhoods depressingly thin. Jakey I really recommend watching (at least the first few episodes) Double Fine Psychodyssey. I think it's going to give you a good amount of insight into how/why a big game goes wrong the way that it does. especially ones that don't take the Sony approach and try to go off the beaten path. incredible video though, also Jakey and Jakey were amazing, Jakey though was a bit nervous and looked like he wanted to shit his little pissboy pants, not nearly as good as the other two.

To add to Jake's point, I think the issue got worse when Open World games became commonplace. Instead of scaling the bug checking and QA to the larger size of the game's worlds, they kept the same development times and release windows to appease stockholders, which led to crunch as an industry standard, and corporate greed as an acceptable reason to release broken games to make money NOW and fix problems later. (If ever.)

@Louis Victor Honestly, I could kiss the people who designed the landscape and map. It's all I was gushing to my friends about when they lended the game to me. All the little things to incentivize exploration, the landmarks and the map was so easy to use and, even more importantly, easy to read. The music design also made sure it never got boring, even though I disliked the combat portions.

There was once a golden era when my naive child mind truly believed that games would just continue to get better over time. I forget which Xbox title snapped me out of the illusion but ever since my expectations have slowly gone downhill. It’s not necessarily the fault of game developers, the movie industry has seen similar challenges of getting too big for its own good.
